The 2017 Annual Appeal is underway!
I hope you have had the pleasure of seeing the dinghies on the water outside of the Santa Barbara Harbor tacking and gybing; these are our very own Santa Barbara Youth Sailing Foundation sailors honing their sailing skills. When you walk down the boardwalk or by the dinghy dock at the end of the day and see the grins and smiles on the faces of these sailors as they get off the water it will surely bring a smile to your face every time! The kids truly love the ocean and sailing and we are proud to be able to offer this experience to the youth of Santa Barbara through the Santa Barbara Youth Sailing Foundation.
We are able to provide these opportunities in large part through your support and contributions, thank YOU! The Santa Barbara Youth Sailing Foundation has enjoyed strong success this year and you have been instrumental in the growth of the organization.
To continue this growth and to meet our Mission of providing learn-to-sail programs and sailboat racing focus for the youth of Santa Barbara we need your continued support.
We plan to continue to build a strong summer program, add seamanship elements to our curriculum and maintain our coach boat fleet to enhance the learn-to-sail programs for beginning sailors. For the sailboat racing focus we want to add several new Optimists, purchase new and improved CFJ’s and add C420’s to the fleet. The addition of these sailboats will solidify our commitment to advancing the racing program in an affordable yet competitive direction. The ability to have our sailors compete in Southern California with lower cost, yet still, highly competitive sailing is key to the growth of the program. Nick Kaschak, Program Director, and the SBYSF Board believes this clear direction is key to the future growth of the Foundation and youth sailing in Santa Barbara.
Our goals this year include;
8 ZIM CFJ’s $62,000
2 ZIM C420’s $16,000
3 Blue Magic Optimists $10,000
Repower Ribcraft Coach Boat $8,000
We are extremely grateful to have already received commitments for $55,000 of the 2017 goal for the CFJ purchase. Thank you to those contributors who have helped us advance the purchase for these sailboats! We are looking to raise $41,000 to close the gap for the additional capital expenditures.
You can help us support Santa Barbara youth sailing. Your support is crucial to our efforts to maintain the asset inventory necessary for a strong program.
Thank you in advance for your contribution!
